Plant crisis

One species, homo rapiens is wiping other species in the so-called ‘sixth extinction’. News reports tend to focus on larger fauna but we ignore at our peril the decimation of the world’s flora. One in five plant species are now at risk of extinction from climate change, invasive species or other causes, according to a new report (June 2016) from the Kew Royal Botanical Gardens. The report also found that one tenth of plant-friendly habitats are highly vulnerable to climate change.
